- No new probation — you already hold Klasse B
- One practical test only — BE has no theory test
BE or B96?
- Up to a 4,250 kg combination, B96 is enough — a course, no test
- Above that, up to 7,000 kg, you need BE with its own test
- Caravans and horseboxes often already fit under B96 — we'll do the sums on your combination honestly

Klasse BE. Clear answers.
Yes. Klasse B is a prerequisite for BE — you have to hold it before you start the extension. BE cannot be acquired alongside your first licence.
That depends on your existing experience. Because BE is an extension, it's considerably fewer hours than Klasse B. After the first drive we'll tell you honestly what we think you need.
BE has no new basic theory syllabus and no theory test — only the practical exam. The trailer material on coupling, noseweight, stabilisation systems and load securing we work through compactly in class and during the lessons.
Trailers up to 3,500 kg gross weight — horseboxes, caravans, boat trailers or plant trailers. The combination of vehicle and trailer may total up to 7,000 kg.
If your combination weighs no more than 4,250 kg, the B96 code is enough — a course without a test covers it. Only above that, up to a 7,000 kg combination, do you need BE with its own practical exam.
Klasse BE is recognised EU-wide. Outside the EU different rules may apply — check the regulations of the country you're travelling to before you set off.
