Theory topics
The theory course covers fourteen topics — your foundation for the test and for the road. You can sit in on each one as often as you like. Here is what each lesson holds.
- 14 topic areas
- Repeat as often as you like
- Lessons every weekday
- Langenfeld
Your foundation
Fourteen topics. Your foundation.
Topics 1 to 12 are the Grundstoff, topics 13 and 14 the class-specific Zusatzstoff. Under § 4 FahrschAusbO those two have to have been attended before the Theorieprüfung — all the others you can repeat as often as you want. Our recommendation: take all fourteen.
- Topic 01
Personal requirements
Body and mind have to be ready. Why fitness, attention and a sense of responsibility are the basis of every safe journey — before you even start the engine.
More on topic 1 - Topic 02
The human risk factor
Distraction, stress, emotion: the driver is the biggest risk on the road. Here you learn to spot your own mistakes and judge a situation with a clear head.
More on topic 2 - Topic 03
The legal framework
Laws, duties, consequences. What is allowed on German roads, what is not — and what happens when the rules are broken. Groundwork, without exceptions.
More on topic 3 - Topic 04
The road system and level crossings
How our road network is built and where the particular dangers sit. Level crossings are among the most critical places you meet in daily driving — here you learn why, and how to react correctly.
More on topic 4 - Topic 05
Basic rule, right of way and traffic control
Who has right of way, and why? The basic rules are not optional. This topic gives you the tools for clear decisions at junctions and in situations you cannot fully see.
More on topic 5 - Topic 06
Road signs and traffic installations
The language of the road, written in signs. Priority signs, prohibitions, requirements, markings: this topic trains your eye to read them quickly and reliably.
More on topic 6 - Topic 07
Other road users
Not everyone is equally protected. Pedestrians, children, cyclists, motorcyclists — every group has its own vulnerabilities. Consideration is not a bonus, it is a basic duty.
More on topic 7 - Topic 08
Speed
Speed decides between life and death. Reaction time, braking distance, impact force: this topic makes clear why appropriate speed is not a recommendation but a question of survival.
More on topic 8 - Topic 09
Observation and manoeuvres
See it, judge it, act — in that order. Turning, overtaking, changing lanes: not just knowing the manoeuvres, but carrying them out with enough warning and enough margin.
More on topic 9 - Topic 10
Stopping and parking
Stopping, parking, positioning — with clear rules. Where is what allowed? What counts as obstruction? This topic clears up the everyday misconceptions about leaving a car standing.
More on topic 10 - Topic 11
Behaviour in special situations
Accident, breakdown, emergency vehicle, bad weather: here you learn how to stay calm in unusual situations, decide correctly, and avoid putting anyone else at risk.
More on topic 11 - Topic 12
Safety through continued learning
Driving knowledge ages. Technology moves on, rules change. Refreshing what you know regularly is not a sign of weakness — it is a sign of responsibility.
More on topic 12 - Topic 13Compulsory
Vehicle technology, carrying people and loads
What is going on under the bonnet — and why is that your responsibility? From tyre pressure to securing a load: the technical groundwork, tied to deliberate, environmentally aware driving. Compulsory topic (§ 4 FahrschAusbO).
More on topic 13 - Topic 14Compulsory
Driving solo vehicles and combinations
Car, motorcycle, trailer — no two vehicles behave the same. You learn what Klasse B actually covers, when you need B96 or BE, and how a combination with a trailer behaves when driving, braking, manoeuvring and loading. Compulsory topic (§ 4 FahrschAusbO).

As often as you want
You can sit in on any topic as many times as you like. If one doesn't land the first time, come again — no surcharge, no discussion.
- 02
Explained, not read out
We work through the topics with real examples instead of clicking through slides. Questions are actively wanted.

Learning app for home
Between sessions you keep practising with the official test questions — your progress travels with you.
Theory lessons
Fourteen topics. One room.
The compulsory material is the same as in any app. The difference is that here you can ask, and that someone notices when a priority rule hasn't landed yet.
- Every topic runs to a fixed schedule
- Ask questions instead of swiping flashcards
- You can always see when each topic is next up
Good to know
Theory lessons. Straight answers.
The theory course covers fourteen topic areas. Topics 1 to 12 make up the Grundstoff; topics 13 and 14 are the class-specific Zusatzstoff for Klasse B.
Topics 13 and 14 — the class-specific Zusatzstoff — must have been attended before the Theorieprüfung, under § 4 FahrschAusbO. Independently of that we strongly recommend taking all fourteen: the test questions cover the entire syllabus.
Yes, as often as you like. There is no upper limit and no surcharge — the theory course is covered by the Grundbetrag. If a topic doesn't land the first time, just come again.
No. The topics do not build on each other, so you can join at any point. In practice that means you start with whatever topic is next on the theory schedule, instead of waiting weeks for topic 1.
As soon as the required lessons are done and your application has been approved by the Straßenverkehrsamt. We register you when your mock tests show you will pass comfortably — not at the first halfway decent result.
